C. Robert Hopf Akkordzither 100/5 Alder

Though I am not a traditional zither player, I love to use zithers in my own recordings for their distinctive tone. For many years I have used an antique zither, but it is in bad shape and difficult to keep in tune. As such, I decided to buy a new zither to replace it. The Hopf zither is a wonderful successor and I am absolutely delighted.

The sound is simply sublime. The Hopf shimmers with a beautifully clear and full-bodied tone. It is quite a departure from my rusty antique! The instrument has such presence and resonance. It is perfectly dynamic and responsive. A tuning key and a thumb pick are included in the box; the tuning key is particularly useful as you will need to tune the instrument upon arrival. This is a straightforward process and does not take long. I play it with a set of finger picks with which the instrument really shines. The construction is superb - the Hopf feels sturdy and robust. Aside from the high quality of construction, the zither has an excellent finish and looks tremendous.

This is a fantastic instrument. If you are looking to acquire a zither, I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Je suis très satisfait de cet achat. Le son est très agréable et l'instrument semble solide. Je recommande de se procurer un accordeur, car sans, l'accordage de la cithare peut être assez laborieux. L'instrument reste cependant accordé longtemps: en ce qui me concerne, je ne l'accorde qu'une fois tous les deux mois alors que j'en joue tous les jours.
Deux petits bémols:
- l'anneau de cithare livré avec est en métal, alors que les cordes de la cithare sont en métal. En général, on préfère utiliser un médiator ou un anneau en plastique sur ce type de cordes, mais cela reste très subjectif.
-L'absence de notice en français (ou en anglais).
