At first the action seemed really high but there is an easy "fix". I realized that the stiffer, lower strings buckle a bit over the zero fret and thus are lifted up by about a millimeter.
Tune the guitar, use your thumb to press down on the strings right on the zero fret, tune again. Maybe repeat. Makes a huge difference.
Although the fret ends are perfectly rounded, the fretboard has rather sharp edges and feels a bit rough. The action could still be lower and unfortunately it starts with the zero fret. It is too high to have any real purpose but makes lowering the action much harder than with just a nut. Otherwise I am really happy with the TravelMate-E. I don't really get why others compare it to 600$ wooden guitars. It has it's own sound. In fact, many different sounds if you use the built-in effects.
