I'm a MM Stingray fan (for Funk and Jazz-Rock), but I wanted a "nonexpensive" light instrument for my metal/djent project. I wanted multiscale and headless instrument and this Ibanez is one of the few choices.
- Craftsmanship: my particular guitar was set from the box (in tune), with a little touch is good, not on the MTD or Ken Smith level, but very good for the price. The wood is beautiful, the ss frets are well made. A little neck set (because I like low set) and pot covers set (not aligned well) and is good for show. I love the 18mm string spacing! 8.5/10
- Sound: I love the Stingray HH sound and this Ibanez is not as fat sounding, but is good for djent/metal. I don't like the Ibanez Vari-Mid Eq, I prefer Music Man and Aguillar bass preamps, but is not bad at all, it's not my taste. With all settings set to neutral and with SansAmp boost the sound is brutal. 8.5/10
- Characteristics: fanfret, headless, stainless steel frets, light and easy to carry, beautiful wood, good but not exceptional sound for my taste (but on point for metal with a little help from a good preamp and compressor). 10/10
- Overall: 9/10
