After frustratingly buying two cheaper so called isolated? power supplies elsewhere, I opted to up my budget for this Warwick supply from Thomann. This was to be a wise decision.
To clarify, I was shocked at the level of noise from the cheaper readily available power bricks. Running only 6 pedals with low power needs/draw. The hum and hiss was too noticeable to say the least. I checked my pedals and cables by running them on batteries and individual ac power supplies, as expected the noise was gone and the power bricks were clearly at fault or not truly isolated as advertised.
This Rockboard has no such issues and is very quiet indeed, it has more power available than the others I tried, so maybe this plays into it? Those more knowledgeable can decide. I am running my board along with good quality cables and a dedicated buffer beginning and end of chain and the results are fab, only an acceptable amount of hiss on the gain pedals, but nothing too distracting or that couldn't be looped out with a gate. Most importantly no hum or annoying artifacts in the sound.
It seems really well constructed all metal and has a small enough form factor. The supplied power cables are branded and of a reassuring sturdier feel than the others I had tested. The USB port is a nice touch for charging phone running a light etc. Basically this supply it does what is describes extremely efficiently.
In conclusion, to be fair I am comparing this to other power bricks at a third of the cost. So I can't offer up how it would compare to others at this price point. That said if other bricks are even better than this then must be truly awesome as this one is as silent and functional as I would ever need.
Highly recommended.
