Solid Spun Brass snares use a heavy, spun brass shell, which is not casted, but spun into form using high centrifugal force. Shells are seamless and 3mm thick with a straight shell wall. Top and bottom edges are rounded except at the snare bed where it is flat. Shell interiors feature a natural finish, and are not polished. The un-plated shell exterior is finished in a clear lacquer and features the classic center Gretsch knurling pattern. Additional features include Lightning throw-off, top and bottom die-cast hoops, 'Snap-In' key holder, classic Gretsch 'Drop G' octagon badge, Permatone coated top with underside dot/clear bottom heads and 42-Strand snare wire. Gretsch's new Custom Series Spun Brass Metal shell is solid, seamless and heavy. Its 3mm thick shell is superior at achieving volume levels ranging from a soft whisper to piercing loud, while retaining purely musical tones.
