Glockenklang Blue Bird

Sound war, wie zu erwarten, absolut klar, druckvoll und die einzelnen EQ Regelungen top.
Leider ging das gute Stück gleich wieder zurück. Ein nerviger Lüfter -dauer an- und die Bedienung der einzelnen Regler ist wirklich Tricky.
Glatte Knobs und sehr dicht zusammen, dann direkt daneben ein on /off Switch, den man beim Drehen sehr leicht wieder rein oder rausdrückt.
Die Switchknobs sind auch sehr flatterig, bei der Preisklasse ( High End) sogar fragwürdig.
Leicht is er, klingt irre gut, aber zu viel Nervkram... Schade, ich hatte wesentlich mehr erwartet.

Seit vielen Jahren spiele ich einen Sterling by MM über einen GK 1001 an einer Double. Hin und wieder habe ich Class D Amps ausprobiert, war aber nie zufrieden, immer gab es störende Mitten oder es hat Druck gefehlt.
Nun also der Blue Bird. Kurz gefasst, der Amp ist phantastisch. Hoch auflösend, guter Attack, durchsetzungsstarke aber nicht nervige Mitten. Die Leistung ist brachial. Er fährt die Double voll aus, mit einer zusätzlichen 15er für Gigs in größeren Raum wird man sicher nie ans Limit kommen.
Der Equalizer greift moderat ein, man muss nicht viel machen, um einen guten Sound hinzubekommen. Eine wirkliche Verbesserung ist der parametrische Mittenregler, z.B. zum Kompensieren einer störenden Raumresonanz. Ich habe leicht einen fetten aber nicht dröhnenden, durchsetzungsstarken Sound gefunden, der auch böse genug ist.
Über die Drive Sektion kann man den Sound anrauen. Stärkere Zerre verwende ich nie, die Qualität des Effekts ist vermutlich Geschmackssache. Der Effekt des Voicing Filters ist auch moderat, er scoopt den Sound leicht.
Die Wirkung des BassCuts habe ich auch auf der low B Seite kaum gemerkt.
Stummgeschaltet ist er völlig leise, kein Rauschen, kein Lüftergeräusch, was mir sehr wichtig ist.
Ich finde ihn besser als den Steamhammer, zu dem es ja vom Aufbau her einige Ähnlichkeiten gibt - ausgewogener über das ganze Frequenzspektrum und merklich leistungsstärker.
Ist vielleicht kein Amp für den Sparfuchs, macht aber richtig Spaß!

High end brands like Eich, Vanderkley, Bergantino, Epifani, Jule Amps...
More popular brands like Aguilar, Markbass, Fender, ...
And honestly I am still waiting to see the next Vanderkley amp because they're the only brand that tackles Glockenklang.
That being said, this blue bird from glockenklang is a beast. Absolute monster.
Plug your bass direct in, turn everything off and that's the purest sound I've had...
Well except for the big studio experience...
And of course, when you push the gain past 50%, you get some light to medium saturations.
Of course the cab needs to follow up on the power and details the Glockenklang produces.

But then yes, you can switch them on, and shape that pure sound even more to your taste/need !
Yes there are a lot of knobs and the settings are powerful, so you need to know (or learn) your way around your EQ.
Then the two channels are perfect, with the drive & voice, giving you so much to play with!
The B input is quite cool too, if you've got a preamp before your bass amp, you can run it quite hot and get some drive maybe from it, and then trim that volume, before gaining the next stage, the Glockenklang preamp

The only negative thing I'd say is the effects loop return input is massively different to the pre, and plugging a preamp in the effects loop doesn't work so well. The effects return input saturates very quickly.
However if you plug effects or a compressor, it works perfectly, and you can blend and level match your sound...!
I haven't yet tried the DI out but I'm pretty sure it's great too.

Also the 600/900w is cool but the 900w mode sounds better to me.
