Neck pickup for enhanced middle and bass frequencies.
I have had this pickup in the neck position of my main guitar (H-S-H, alder body) for many years. It's the classic Steve Morse sound in the neck pickup. He uses it it for arpeggios etc. If anyone is familiar with Morse's playing can understand. While you cannot use this pickup the most of the time, it can give your guitar great diversity.
After some years, the pickup had a coil not working, I was not careful with some phantom power in a audio interface or something. Anyway, with only one coil working the pickup sound also fantastic. So I decided to buy a new one and use split coil. You have to choose pickups that have tons of tremble in the middle position to get the best out of that pickup in the 2nd position. With split on it can give you strat neck sound with a little more "beef". It also has great harmonics with medium output which is also great.
In conclusion, that pickup has unique sound and can make your guitar very versatile at the same time, if you choose your whole pickup setup wisely.
