I use the bass for rockabilly mainly. It plays like butter, sounds like thunder.
Perfectly adjusted by Duke guysI did not have to do any modifications whatsoever. I use the Shadow rockabilly set and it sounds just as it should. The gut a like strings it comes from are really nice and do the job perfectly. Slap sounds amazing, loud, clear and sweet to my ear!
The neck is a bit thick, but you get used in a few weeks. Tuners are soft and effective. The bridge stays in forever, and I rarely need to correct its position... even though I slap her like I stole her!!
I had one of the cheapest Thomann rockabilly basses before, and obviously this Duke is on a complete different league sound and comfort wise. You would've notice immediately. Just a dream bass. I will not spend a single penny more on other basses cause this one sure is a keeper.
Did I mention the visual impact? People are just staring at it with an open mouth. The blonde varnish, bindings and the flamed sides and back makes me smile every time I look at her.
I've also recorded in studio directly to the soundboard, and the technician said it was really easy to adjust, with a huge sound. Here's some tracks in case you're wondering:
and your money will not go wrong if you go the Duke way!
Carlos.
