After using a 1-1/4 and a Peter Sullivan mouthpiece for 2nd and 3rd parts in my town band, this is the Goldilocks option: just right. On the Sullivan, I can't reach down below the pedal Ab comfortably. The bass mouthpiece slays pedal tones but is uncomfortable for me playing up at the Ab above the staff. If I practiced more than a few hours a month, this wouldn't be an issue, but here we are.
The Wick mouthpiece feels great, gets down low, gets up high, and has a clear tone that supports an ensemble.
