I have dozens of guitars and prefer 10’s on my favourite 59 Seymour Duncan neck and blackguard bridge pupped Hotrod telecaster over thicker strings.
In my humble opinion thicker strings don’t ring out as long and as sharp as 10’s, which is an absolute must on a tele.
If you buy string thickness thinner, like very good D’Addario EXL 9,5’s or 9’s, which are more suited for Les Paul, SG and hollowbody models because they have humbuckers, the sound gets a little to sharp with less harmonical sound gain.
These days there are an awful lot of good strings for each and every fingersetting, each fret dressing, all fretboard wood choices and play style. I myself bought a ton of strings which after years I still have stored in my cupboard but will probably never use and will not even give to a student of mine as a gift.
These Fender Classic Core 10’s will never reach this dark storage cupboard to be forgotten.
That is simply because these Classic Cores are close to the very best you can get, they sound superb on my favourite telecaster.
And now, as I found out recently, even so on my favourite stratocaster.
This shows that good strings will make the big difference on your guitar, both in fun to play but most importantly for the bigger spectrum in sound variety sparkling out of your practice or gigging amp. Good strings will stimulate you to move on and on to become a wonderful musician.
Of course this is my personal opinion, but hopefully Thomann will keep on selling these here classic core strings.
Good products which are wanted and mostly sold out quickly.
If available buy some and try them! Hopefully you will enjoy playing them as much as I do!
Thanks Thomann for keeping these super strings in stock for us loyal players.
Keep up the good work and thanks for reading.
