I have these along with the 16" and 18" Xist brilliant crashes, and the hats are the best! The crashes are a little dark, and get buried in a heavy mix too easily, but these 13" hats are somewhat brighter and more versatile. They take accenting very well, stick tips bounce off them nicely and they have a good shimmering sound when open, which makes them great for disco, funk and rock beats. They also sound good in heavier music like metal, although I would recommend using a separate hi-hat mic if using them for recording heavy music. Also, after having them for roughly 2 years and giving them pretty heavy use (including gigs), they haven't really lost any tone at all and have no sign of wear and tear other than fingermarks.
Definitely my favourite of the Xist brilliant cymbals, and I would them recommend to anyone looking for a pair of quality hats that are suited to a good range of styles.
