Der Sound in meiner Strat ist bluesig, schmatzig und obertonreich, aber mir persönlich viel zu dunkel mit zuwenig Kompression. Das kann natürlich auch am Grundsound meiner Strat liegen, welche mit dem originalen Singlecoil auch schon ziemlich fett klang. Keine Ahnung...werde mich leider wieder nach einem anderen Pickup umsehen müssen. Besitzer einer eher höhenreichen Strat wird der Red Devil wohl gefallen. Für mich ist er leider nichts.

Großer Texas-Sound

Schön (positiv) mittiger, definierter und durchsetzungsstarker Sound. Harmoniert perfekt mit den handwound Fender Texas-Specials meiner Strat. Geringer Einbauaufwand, da SD 250er Potis empfiehlt. Etwas große Kappe für ein Fender-Pickguard.

This is my second Red Devil.
I bought it to put into my spare strat ('05 Fender Greg Fessler 64 Masterbuilt Relic).
I'd been using a SD Hot Rails for years and was very interested when these were announced. I love having a HSS arrangement in a strat but some strats aren't routed for a full size HB.
Installation was easy, there's plenty of wire available and the cable is flexible enough to allow easy routing under the pickguard.
Fits into standard usa strat single coil cutouts without modification needed.
The sound is glorious. A slightly hot PAF style sound with great grit and drive. Nice mids too that really cut through and it plays very well with single coils. It's not too much louder than the SC sounds on their own which is great.
It also responds well to 250k pots rather than the 500k ones usually used for humbuckers, so I haven't felt the need to replace the tone pot at all.
It also responds great to volume pot changes and cleans up nicely, but doesn't become shrill or thin.
My next task will be to wire in the coil tap so position 2 on the pickup selector splits the coil when added to the middle pickup.
It's a great pickup, definitely a step above the tone of the Hot Rails.
One thing I will mention is that it absolutely does not play well with the USA PRS Silver Sky guitars. I don't know why but it sounds wooly and muffled, the top end was completely gone.
Put it back into a normal Fender Strat and it's back to being a brilliant pickup.
So if you were buying one for a PRS SS, caveat emptor.

un PAF au format simple !

J'ai une Strat Mexicaine que je trouve presque parfaite, j'aurais juste aimé un son plus péchu sur le micro bridge (chevalet) mais sans avoir à me lancer dans trop de manipulations... pas envie de passer au format HSS et devoir re-cabler tout un pickguard ! Ce micro est parfait ! le format qui nécessite un minimum de bricolage, la couleur qui se marie parfaitement à mon pickguard et aux autres micros et puis, surtout, quel SON !! Seymour Duncan ne se moque pas de nous quand il nous annonce le son PAF au format simple, juste magique pour un son bien gras, pour du blues vitaminé voire plus en fonction de ce que vous brancherez derrière. Je suis comblé pour un prix raisonnable et encore une fois un minimum de manipulations. M. Billy Gibbons sait parfaitement ce qu'il veut et on le remercie pour sa contribution.
